On Our Mountains | Advent – Week 2
Inner peace is such a worthwhile pursuit. In a world where anxiety and ambition wait for us at every bend, one would think we would be thrilled with the idea of an offer to replace our stress and our worries with sweet, wonderful peace.
So why is it so hard to abide safely in the deep wonderful rest that is God’s offer to His people?
This second week of Advent as we consider the story of Zechariah, we see what happens in the heart when we bump God from number one and either directly or passively shift away from faith in Him and try to take charge. The subtle trap of pride is a sure fire way to displace the better intention of God’s presence in our hearts to direct us and guide us safely through hardships, struggles and all the craziness this world can throw our way.
