Emotions are powerful tools. We have all been in situations where our emotions have been very apparent. Emotions tell us things before our minds can comprehend the case, making them very helpful. So it is essential to know what emotion you are feeling.
When talking about happiness, it is easy to be ok with expressing that emotion. But what about sadness? My observation of our culture is it is not encouraged to be sad, even when sadness is the only appropriate emotion.
We will discuss Jesus’ statement in Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Mourning is deep sadness because of a loss. The loss could be the death of a loved one or even the loss of a dream or something else you worked hard to accomplish. In this case, mourning is the only appropriate thing to do.
The Holy Spirit is also called the Comforter. This Sunday, we will seek the Comforter as we talk about sadness. We are looking forward to seeing you at 10 am.
