Serving others is the consistent call of the Christ follower. Throughout Scripture, we see how important it is to love, serve, be patient, encourage, bear with one another etc. It is so sad to see the opposite happen in the church.

Throughout Ephesians, we see how important it is for Christians to submit to one another and, more importantly, Christ. God is above us. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. He is our King.

This is what Paul was helping us understand in 1 Corinthians 11. Paul wants us to see there are ways to do things that will help us as a body to thrive rather than stumble through life in our community together.

Chapter 11 is a passage that consumes a lot of thought and can even bring up fears in people. It has changed how some churches operate depending on their understanding of it. Jesus has a message for us from it that will unite us, which will make our spiritual influence even more significant as a result.
