Comfort in Trouble| We are God’s House – Part 2
God went to great lengths to move his presence from inside the temple made with human hands to inside human hearts that he formed with his own hands. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, he made it possible for him to make his home in us!
Just because God lives in you by his spirit and has made his home in you doesn’t mean you won’t experience any trouble.
I’m not talking about being cold and having a big warm blanket fix everything. I mean real trouble, where you feel confined, hemmed in, like there is no escape.
In this world you will have trouble…you can expect it! But you can also expect to find God’s comfort right in the middle of your trouble.
When we go through trouble, we have to be careful what voices we listen to. We have an Advocate and an Adversary. We can’t believe every thought we have is true. When we face trouble, The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort is committed to comforting us!
Understanding what this means can help us both identify our strongholds (faulty patterns of thought set up in our minds that argue against what is true about God) and understand why we built them in the first place.
Prepare your heart as we will create some space for you to reflect on a time of trouble in your life, and see if you walked away agreeing with your advocate or your adversary.
I Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
