In Our Valleys | Advent – Week 1

“A voice of one is calling out,
“Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness;
Make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God.

“Every valley shall be raised,
And every mountain and hill be made low;
And let the rough ground become a plain,
And the rugged places a broad valley.”

– Is. 40:3-5

When a king was said to come to visit a particular town or place, preparation was made. Roads were built up, smoothed down and levelled out to ensure there was nothing in the way of the kings’ path that might cause him to need to turn around. We have a King who has mysteriously both come and is yet to come.

Throughout this season of Advent, we will be looking at the landscape of our own hearts in light of this scripture and characters surrounding the nativity.

Join us this Sunday, as we take a look at Mary’s story, the valleys she may have faced and how they became level ground for the coming King.
